Japanese enterprises that operate in Brazil are more optimistic about the economy, according to a new survey conducted by the country’s export promotion agency, known as Jetro. The study took place between October and November of 2017 with 417 Japanese companies operating in Latin America. The ones that are in Brazil see better prospects from improving indicators and higher prices for commodities but still point out difficulties working in the country. “Auto parts and cable producers for vehicles, for instance, want to cut labor costs and study transferring to Paraguay,” says Kojiro Takeshita, Jetro’s Latin America and Caribbean director.
