Investe SP participates in a meeting with the Chinese delegation from Dongguan

On September 22, the general manager of Investe São Paulo, Wilson Soares, participated in a meeting with authorities and businessmen from the Chinese city of Dongguan. The event was organized by the municipality of Donguan in partnership with the Brazil-China Chamber of Economic Development (CBCDE) at the World Trade Center in São Paulo.

Headed by the mayor of Dongguan, Yuan Baocheng, the delegation included 28 members. The intention of the group was to present the growth and modernization plan of the city’s economy over the past few years and discuss the current volume of foreign trade and the new business opportunities between Dongguan and the State of São Paulo.

Businessmen came to look for partnerships with Brazilian companies to invest in Brazil. On the occasion, CBCDE and the municipality of Dongguan entered into a memorandum of understanding for the cooperation in conducting business between Brazil and the Chinese city.

The delegation includes 16 companies from various sectors, including air-conditioning and humidifiers manufacturers; audio and video; special trucks; elevators; electronic security equipment; equipment designed for the production of renewable energy; brushless DC motors; parts for mobile telecom; fixed, mobile, wireless communication terminals and network; manufacturing in general; and importing and exporting services.

The event was also attended by representatives from several cities of Brazil, the Commercial Association of São Paulo (ACSP), the Foreign Chamber of Commerce of Campinas and Region, the Center of Industries of the State of São Paulo in Campinas; the Federation of Trade of Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of São Paulo (Fecomercio-SP); the Institute of Studies of Foreign Trade Operations (ICEX) and São Paulo Negócios.

Authorities from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China and the Chinese Consulate-General in São Paulo were also present.

About Dongguan

The city is located in Guangdong province. Its current population totals 10 million people. In 2013, the city’s GDP totaled US$ 91.5 billion, an increase of 9.8% compared to the previous year. The amount is divided between the tertiary sector (US$ 49 billion), secondary sector (US$ 42 billion) and the primary sector (US$ 340 million). Last year, the GDP per capita was US$ 12.109.

Important industrial city located in the Pearl River Delta, Dongguan borders with the provincial capital of Guangzhou to the north, Huizhou to the northeast, Shenzhen to the south, and Foshan to the west. One of the largest shopping malls in the world is located in Dongguan, the South China Mall.
