On June 14, the second day of the trade mission to Colombia, promoted by Investe SP in partnership with Apex-Brazil, entrepreneurs from São Paulo had a busy schedule of visits to the shopping malls of Bogota. The purpose was to make an on-site observation of the consumer habits of Colombians and identify business opportunities.

“These technical-commercial visits are important for the entrepreneurs from São Paulo to obtain practical information regarding brand positioning and price, consumer habits and the most important: which attributes determine the purchase made by local customers,” said Juan Quirós, president of Investe SP.

In the retail stores, entrepreneurs received guidance on how to calculate the price range of products on shelves, analyze packaging, the display of products on the shelves, competing products, flow of people in a department store, campaigns, promotions and logistics network. In addition, they assessed the buyers’ profile, price, quality and availability of the products displayed on the shelves and the perception of Brazilian products, especially those from the state of São Paulo.

They visited the shopping malls Gran Estación, Titán Plaz, Unicentro, Santafé and Andino. Some entrepreneurs also visited the Asociación Nacional de Empresarios de Colombia (Andi), where they were able to check out the main growth trends of the sectors in the upcoming months and how this is converted into business, thus increasing the exports from the state of São Paulo.

Companies in the cosmetics, health, food, beauty and technology sectors participated in the visits.

The visit to the Unicentro shopping mall was accompanied by the president of Investe São Paulo and the Agency’s Export Manager, Ricardo Santana.

The trade mission to Colombia is one of the initiatives of the Program to Support Exports from São Paulo, the SP Export.

About SP Export

Coordinated by Investe São Paulo and created by the Department of Economic Development, Science and Technology and Innovation, São Paulo Export Support Program – SP Export – seeks to increase the volume of exports from São Paulo, encourage the exporting culture in its business community and help state companies find foreign markets for their products and services.

SP Export is carried out through a partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brazil), an integral part of the National Exporting Culture Plan (PNCE), in accordance with an agreement signed in late 2015.

The program includes missions of Brazilian companies for prospecting international markets, support to the arrival of potential buyers and foreign exporters and training seminars, in addition to the service provided free of charge through the Industrial Export Extension Project (Peiex), of Apex-Brazil, and Poupatempo do Exportador, an itinerant initiative that brings information from different institutions to the main metropolitan areas of the state.
