English group Dialight announces R$ 4 million investment in the assembly of LED lighting in Jundiaí

With the support from Investe SP, leader in LED lighting technology chose the state of São Paulo to settle its first plant in South America

In October, the city of Jundiaí will have the first plant of Dialight group operating in South America A global leader in LED lighting technology, the British multinational is investing R$ 4 million in the settlement of the new plant, which will be located at Avenida João Antonio Meccatti, in the district of Casa Branca.

During the first phase of operations, which should employ about 20 people, the company intends to work with the sale and assembly of lightings from subsets. “If the local market offers competitive conditions, we will promote greater investment and the implementation of other production phases, such as electronics, the insertion of LEDs, the manufacture of power supplies, etc.,” says the CEO of Dialight Brazil, Laércio Pereira.

The unit will have an annual production capacity of approximately 25,000 high-performance industrial lightings to the markets of oil and gas, chemical, petrochemical, mining, steel and other industries with plants and processes that require high reliability and quality. LED lightings will also be produced for public lighting and control equipment for remote management. It is expected to generate a turnover of R$ 10 million in 2014, compared to an annual growth above 30% over the next 10 years due to being a new technology with increasing application.

For the President of Investe São Paulo, Luciano Almeida, the region offers great structure and availability of suppliers. “LED technology has great potential for growth and the plant will have a broad supply of components, raw materials and skilled labor in the electronics industry," he says.

According to the company director, São Paulo must continue to lead the destination of the lighting industry. The site selection and project consolidation relied on the support from Investe São Paulo – São Paulo’s Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Competitiveness, an agency associated with the state Department of Economic Development, Science and Technology. “The agency has provided a very important support in the contact with other agencies and in the survey of strategic information on the sector, as well as tax and environmental advice,” said Pereira.

According to the Secretary for Economic Development, Science and Technology, Rodrigo Garcia, the settlement of the plant will mean new opportunities for technological advance to the industry. “In addition to stimulating the local economy, the investment will bring more economic and effective alternatives for the improvement of lighting solutions,” he says. 

In August 2013, the communication analyst of Investe São Paulo, Marina Guimarães, visited the company in the UK, where she was welcomed by the operations and financial directors of Dialight, Simon Scott and Nick Rowland, respectively. Marina was able to watch the entire operation and future investment projects of the company expanding and strengthening the relationship to ensure the successful implementation of the plant.
