ABL, a company that produces highly complex medications and exports to more than 25 countries with the most demanding safety standards, has invested R$ 180 million in the new area of the pharmaceutical plant, increasing the company's production capacity.

The two new buildings total 11,000 m², increasing by 25% the built area of the company's Cosmópolis unit, which manufactures and stores medications for both domestic and foreign market.

The new buildings, which will generate about 150 direct and indirect jobs for the city and region, are equipped with the latest technology to produce medications.

"The new areas can be considered a model in South America and the pioneer in Brazil because of the technology used in the production line. The whole range of equipment and concepts are unique in the production of sterile antibiotics because they reduce human contact with the product, ensuring greater manufacturing safety," says Sidnei Bianchi Júnior, plant manager.

Investe SP, São Paulo's Investment Promotion Agency, provided environmental and infrastructure advice to the power transmission lines project so that the construction would follow the schedule. The service to companies of the life sciences sector are priority for the São Paulo agency. ABL's investment helps to improve the population's quality of life and shows that companies installed in the State of São Paulo have technology to serve the global health market.

In order to meet the power demand of the plant, which went from 2,650 kW to 4,450 kW with the expansion, the company invested R$ 20 million in a substation and a transmission line with double high voltage circuit with 5-km extension each , connecting the nearest substation of the Companhia Paulista de Força e Luz (CPFL) to the new substation built within the unit and capable of transforming the electricity into low voltage energy, which is used in the equipment.

"This investment happened to be the best cost benefit, since the volume of energy provided by CPFL did not meet our demand with the new area. With the substation, the company buys cheaper energy, has less risk of oscillation and outages, less environmental impact, in addition to working with spare power, with conditions to supply future expansions of the unit," says Marco Bosoni, president of ABL.

For José Pivatto, mayor of Cosmópolis, the is an important infrastructure to attract new investors. "The expansion will create new jobs and reflect positively in the ICMS share rate of the city. Additionally, the high voltage network, which will be able to meet the demands of new companies or the expansion of plants already established in our region, will be a great attractive feature for the growth of the industrial park installed in that location," says the mayor.

The project for the installation of 19 transmission line towers also carried out the environmental compensation, with the replanting of 12,000 trees of several species, including Brazilwood, in the ABL's area.
