With the support from Investe SP, SI Group completes expansion in Rio Claro
New state-of-the-art facility provides high efficiency and reduced resource consumption; Company invests US$ 20 million in project assisted by Investe SPInveste São Paulo
SI Group, a leading global developer and manufacturer of chemical intermediates, specialty resins, and solutions announced today the completion of its new manufacturing plant in Rio Claro, Brazil.
The Rio Claro plant expansion project included an investment of more than US$ 20 million for the purchase and installation of a new formaldehyde plant; an expansion of the existing resin plant; a new production control room; a new warehouse for finished products and a new flammable product shelter. These new investments will result in an additional 80,000 tons in the annual production capacity of resins and formaldehyde.
The project relies on the support from Investe São Paulo, the investment promotion agency associated with the Department of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation of the state of São Paulo.“The state of São Paulo has all the infrastructure and logistics chain for the development of the chemical sector, and the new plant of SI Group comes to further complement this structure,” said Ermínio Lucci, investment director of the Agency.
The new formaldehyde plant is equipped with world-class technology for high efficiency and reduced resource consumption, including:
• zero solid or liquid waste generation;• reduced carbon emissions;• more than 30% reduction of natural gas consumption;• enhanced recycling and reuse of high-pressure steam;• innovative emissions control system to remove pollutants, performing far better than global limits; and• high-performance automation and safety features for enhanced operator safety.
