Vila Galé wants to invest in São Paulo

Vila Galé, a Portugal group that owns 27 resorts and hotels in Brazilian and Portuguese cities, is eyeing business travelers in São Paulo. The company's controlling shareholder, Jorge Rebelo de Almeida, said he started researching downtown São Paulo to open a hotel in a historical building, but the region is too degraded. He is now seeking land or a building in the city's Higienópolis and Vila Olímpia neighborhoods. Vila Galé plans to launch five projects in Brazil in the next five years, keeping up the growth pace of the last few years. The company has seven ventures in the country, offering 2,300 rooms.
