Taser to build plant in Hortolândia to manufacture electronic security devices

U.S. company will invest initially USD 6 million and will generate about 40 direct jobs

Aiming to expand its presence in Brazil, Taser International, an American company that manufactures electronic security devices, will open a plant in Hortolândia, a municipality located 114 km from the State capital. The initial investment is USD 6 million and will generate about 40 direct jobs.

To invest in the State of São Paulo, the company has the support of Investe São Paulo, which is the gateway for companies planning to set up or expand their businesses in the State. This Monday, July 23, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with Investe São Paulo during the International Fair of Technology, Products and Services for Public Safety (Interseg), which is taking place at the Transamérica Expo Center.

"Brazil is one of the emerging countries with an eye toward technology. Thus, we are pleased to announce our first direct investment into South America," said executive vice president of Taser, Jeff Kukowski. "In addition to initiating the manufacture of our products in Brazil, we will provide local master instructor training and add an in-country team to apply innovation to public safety", Kukowski said.

Founded in 1993, the company is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, and produces electronic control devices used in 107 countries. "With Taser beginning operations in Brazil, our growth prospects are substantial.
