Stock Offer Skyrockets 300% in the Country in 2007

The raising of capital by Brazilian companies in initial public offerings (IPO) in the first ten months of 2007 amounted US$ 25.4 billion, exceeding 300% the amount of the same period of the previous year, according to data from Thomson Financial consulting. In the same basis of comparison, the operations of the sector in the entire World had an increase of 17%, to US$ 237.5 billion. With that, the Brazilian share of the global market of the sector tripled in twelve months to 10.7% of the total. Last month was especially intense in the domestic market, when the issues totalized US$ 7.9 billion, almost one fifth of everything that had been issued by this channel in the entire world. The movement was pulled by the IPO of Bovespa Holding, of R$ 6.62 billion (US$ 3.8bilhões), the largest in the history of the Country. According to specialists, the movement shows that, in spite of the reduction in the global offer of credit, caused by the crisis in the American real estate sector, the demand for securities of domestic companies continues high.
