Roche opens advanced oncology unit in Brazil

Valor Internacional

Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche has created a new business unit in Brazil that will push it into the health-service market in Latin America. Called Foundation Medicine, the new unit will help develop new cancer therapies in a market that already generate 65% of Roche sales. The company will analyze tumors genetically, with the help of a data bank with over 100,000 cases throughout the world, to help doctors pick the most precise and individualized treatment option. Each diagnosis will cost up to R$15,000, and Roche expects 500 patients to use the service a year.
