On October 31, Randon S.A Implementos e Participações officially laid the cornerstone of another industrial unit in São Paulo - a project that, since 2011, has been supported by Investe São Paulo, the investment promotion agency associated with the Department of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation of the State of São Paulo. The ceremony was attended by governor Geraldo Alckmin, the president of Investe São Paulo, Luciano Almeida, and the mayor of Araraquara, Marcelo Barbieri.

Manufacturer of equipment for the freight transport, the company has been operating in Guarulhos since 1965, and now settles in the city of Araraquara, which is strategically located in the central region of the state, only 277 km from the state capital, where it will start manufacturing sugarcane wagons and semi-trailers by 2016.

During the event, the governor Geraldo Alckmin highlighted the benefits to the region. “In the first phase, the plant will generate 700 jobs. The industry adds value, improves wages, is at the forefront of technology and know-how. And we are bringing a Fatec [Technological College] here focused on the metalworking area, providing full support to entrepreneurship,” said the governor.

The project initially contemplates investments of approximately R$ 100 million in physical works and equipment, in a development that could generate up to 2000 jobs in full operation.

Luciano Almeida addressed the importance of the project to the socioeconomic development of the State of São Paulo and explained how is the work of Investe São Paulo in attracting such investments. “The rail issue is one of the priorities of the state, involving both the transportation of passengers and cargo. Randon’s investment reinforces the development of the rail network of São Paulo, this is why we have been providing all the support in issues involving environmental licensing, tax and infrastructure, making the dialogue with all agencies and entities involved in the process,” he said.

“The arrival of Randon in Araraquara will transform the economic and social reality of the city,” said mayor Marcelo Barbieri, to whom the support from governor Alckmin through Investe São Paulo was decisive, strengthening the city’s logistics, rescuing the history of rail in the region and generating thousands of jobs. The mayor notes that even before the actual arrival of the company, positive results could already be noticed, such as the settlement of other enterprises and a major infrastructure project undertaken by the state, which brought a great benefit to the region of the district of Hortênsias, where Randon is located.

The earthworks have already begun and this first stage should comprise a total of 25,000 square meters to be occupied by the plant, administrative and support areas, within a total area covering 122 hectares. The construction of the pavilions should start in approximately 30 days.

The company’s idea involving its expansion in the state of São Paulo took shape in December 2012, after the execution of the Memorandum of Understanding with the municipality of Araraquara and the Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of the State of São Paulo, Investe São Paulo.

“Currently with more than 80% of assets and investments concentrated in Rio Grande do Sul, Randon wants to have presence, with its solutions for transportation, in the main development centers of Brazil,” said the CEO of Randon Companies, David Abramo Randon.

He highlights the vocation of São Paulo for sugarcane planting, which relies on a precondition of adequate infrastructure, with rail and road access, in addition to the availability of workforce.

The same market situation led the company to settle in Chapecó/SC, in 2011, to meet the potential market for cold/frozen products.

“Having formalized the intentions and conditions that allow the expansion of our production capacity, such as licensing, tax and fiscal frameworks and the adequacy of the local infrastructure, Randon S.A. effectively initiates another industrial park, considering that its current industrial facilities, in Caxias do Sul, located in Serra Gaúcha, are at the limit of their capacity,” said David Randon, noting that all sites of Randon in Brazil will be interconnected so as to complement the production and, together, promptly meet the demand where the consumer market is located.

At the ceremony, the president of Randon was accompanied by the vice president of the Board of Directors, Alexandre Randon, and also by the corporate directors Norberto Fabris and Luis Antonio Oselame and the Director of Procurement, Logistics and Finance of Randon Implementos, Esdânio Pereira. From the team of Investe São Paulo, the ceremony was attended by the Investments and Business director, Ermínio Lucci, the project manager, Alexandre Marx, and the expert in Infrastructure, Eduardo Gutierrez.
