Investments from Peruvian enterprises operating in Brazil reach US$ 1 billion, according to Andina news agency.

The opening of the Road Show Brazil 2015 in Sao Paulo announced that Peruvian enterprises’ investments in Brazil have hit the billions.

Arturo Jarama, the Peru Consul to Brazil, added that not just Peru is making its way outward and up but as well, Brazil has a “considerable” amount of companies operating in Peru.

“On the other hand, the presence of Peruvian companies in Brazil started three years ago. There are more than 10 companies, and it is expected these will increase considering the favorable results they can bring,” Jarama told Andina.

“It [Brazil] is the world’s seventh largest economy, it has 200 million inhabitants. Sao Paulo’s GDP is three times higher than that of Peru. Here [in Brazil] we have a market for many of our [Peruvian] products. That is the attraction,” he stated.

Peruvian enterprises in Brazil are primarily made up of mining, garment, and food & beverage services.

According to Jarama, Peruvian cotton is “making its way among Brazilian costumers, to the extent that it is recognized as a quality product, which is what they expect the most.”

All signs point to a positive relationship between these two nations.

“Our equal legal framework makes foreign people feel confident about entering Peru in order to invest […],” said Jarama.

In addition, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Magali Silva told Andina news agency that due mostly to mining products, Peruvian exports to Brazil increased 55.2%.
