Representatives from 12 cities attended the meeting and presented their cities; Updated website, good service and bilingual staff are essential structures
Investe São PauloAiming to show the efforts for attracting investments and learn more about the potential of each municipality, Investe São Paulo - São Paulo's Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Competitiveness, held on March 11 the 29th Meeting with the Municipalities of São Paulo. The event was attended by the representatives of the cities of Paraibuna, Bariri, Barretos, Promissão, Ferraz de Vasconcelos, Campina de Monte Alegre, Ribeirão Bonito, Divinolândia, Capão Bonito, Guarulhos, Dois Córregos and Catanduva.
During the opening of the meeting, the president of Investe SP, Juan Quirós, emphasized the importance of the cities to participate in the training aiming to better assist investors and especially show their vocations. “Our job is to present the best location option for a company of a particular sector, be it national or international. If Investe SP takes the investor to cities that have a natural vocation to welcome these ventures, it will be much easier to attract these projects,” he said.
Next, the CEO of São Paulo’s Development Agency – Desenvolve SP, Milton Luiz de Melo Santos, presented the credit facilities provided by the State Government. “Desenvolve SP is a financial institution that has the same functions as BNDES (Brazilian Development Bank), but with statewide presence. In other words, we work with long-term financing. Today, we celebrate six years of activities and, in this period, we have released R$ 1.8 billion, R$ 350 million to the public sector.” He also stressed the importance of the approximation with the municipal administrations. “Meetings like this allow an interaction with the municipal administration and the orientation to the referral of funding claims,” he said.
Seminar
In the second part of the event, representatives of municipalities participated in a seminar, where the director of Investe São Paulo, Sérgio Costa, introduced the work of Investe SP.
Investe SP argues that there are aspects that make the city more attractive, such as a complete website with information in English, in addition to a team in the municipality with bilingual members who are able to promptly support the investor. The municipality may also, along with the City Council, in accordance with the law, create tax incentive policies.
Intelligence
The director of Investe São Paulo also pointed out that the information provided by the municipalities are the basis of the lists sent to investors who use the support from Investe São Paulo.
Based on a list of demands and prerequisites, the professionals in the project area of the Agency make lists of cities that can meet their needs, including taking them to visit properties. Thus, the more information Investe SP has about a city, the greater the chance that it is included in the options that investors take into account when deciding where to settle their business.
That is why the state agency recently launched the Area of Municipalities, a section in the website of Investe São Paulo with exclusive access to the municipalities of São Paulo. Through this tool, the municipalities will be able to register the land areas to be presented to investors and report issues relating to municipal tax laws, master plan and map the investments announced in the 645 cities.
Small and medium enterprises
Municipal leaders were also introduced to the online tool www.findabusinesspartner.com. The website allows entrepreneurs to look for business partners in several segments so that together they are able to develop new businesses in the State of São Paulo.
The intention is to help entrepreneurs in São Paulo – especially small and medium enterprises – to find business partners, investors, representatives and distributors for technology transfer in any sector of the economy and anywhere in the country and the world.
