Mission promoted by Investe SP to Colombia and Peru generates over R$ 120 million in business for companies from São Paulo
The initiative, held in partnership with Apex-Brazil, brought over 40 entrepreneurs from São Paulo to trade promotion actions and market research activities in the Andean countriesInveste SP
The first trade mission conducted by the state of São Paulo with small and medium enterprises from São Paulo was very welcomed by the Colombian and Peruvian markets. From June 13 to 17, in a week full of business meetings, more than 40 entrepreneurs from São Paulo participated in nearly 400 meetings that could generate a turnover exceeding R$ 120 million in the upcoming months.
It is an initiative of Investe São Paulo promoted through an agreement with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, Apex-Brazil, within São Paulo Export Support Program, SP Export. The schedule included, in the cities of Bogota and Lima, one day of business meetings with potential buyers organized by Investe SP and one day of technical visits and interaction with companies already contacted in the previous day and industry entities:
“The results show the viability of the South American market for companies from São Paulo and the success of the export efforts to overcome the crisis, as advised by the governor Geraldo Alckmin and vice governor Márcio França,” said the president of Investe São Paulo, Juan Quirós.
Small and medium enterprises, whose product or service scope was more suited to the characteristics of the Colombian and Peruvian markets were selected to participate in the mission. In addition to intermediating the contact with buyers and potential partners in both countries, Investe SP offered training before and during the mission to the entrepreneurs from SP on how to calculate the price range of the products on the shelf, prepare documents, develop a website and catalog in English and Spanish, analyze and customize packaging to meet the local consumer market and evaluate the position of the products on the shelf, competing products, flow of people in a department store, campaigns, promotions and logistics network. In addition, they received instructions on how to study the profile of buyers, price, quality and availability of competing products and the perception of Brazilian products, especially products from São Paulo, in the shopping centers of these countries.
In Bogota, capital of Colombia, the mission took place on June 13 and 14. On the first day, business meetings were conducted between entrepreneurs from São Paulo and Colombia. In total, 120 Colombian buyers participated in 200 meetings with the companies from São Paulo. According to entrepreneurs from São Paulo, the negotiations should generate a turnover of R$ 67.6 million in the coming months.
On the second day, entrepreneurs from São Paulo had a busy schedule filled with technical visits to the shopping centers of Bogota. The purpose was to make an on-site observation of the consumer habits of Colombians and identify business opportunities. Some entrepreneurs also visited the Asociación Nacional de Empresarios de Colombia (Andi), where they were able to check out the main growth trends of the sectors in the upcoming months and how this is converted into business, thus increasing the exports from the state of São Paulo.
All technical visits were accompanied by Investe São Paulo team.
On June 16 and 17, the trade mission visited Lima, capital of Peru. On the first day, there were also business meetings. There were 192 meetings between companies from São Paulo and Peru, which, according to entrepreneurs from the state of São Paulo, should generate a turnover of R$ 55.7 million in the upcoming months.
The second day included technical visits to trade associations and retail chains in the city accompanied by Investe São Paulo team.
