According to Juan Quirós, upon the completion of the construction work, Botucatu shall be established as an excellent destination for new investment

The president of Investe SP, Juan Quirós, received last Tuesday, February 23, at the Agency's headquarters, the mayor of Botucatu, João Cury Neto, accompanied by the Secretary of Development, Edison Baptistão, and state representative Fernando Cury.

The meeting aims at bringing together the municipalities of Investe SP, which is the state government agency responsible for supporting projects of private companies and presenting the potential of São Paulo's municipalities.

"The integration of Investe SP with local municipalities facilitates the attraction of companies to areas that already have a pre-defined vocation. Botucatu is already finishing the construction of its Technology Park, which qualifies it as an excellent destination for new investment", said Quirós.

During the meeting, they discussed the city's potential to receive new enterprises, as well as the registration of the municipality on the online tool Área das Prefeituras.

"We were impressed with the work developed by Investe SP São Paulo to attract investments. President Juan Quirós is quite focused and committed to identifying the differences and local vocations. This approach with the Agency will certainly bring good results to Botucatu", said Edison Baptistão.

Fernando Cury stressed the importance of the contribution provided by the state's legislative department in attracting investments to the state. "It is up to us parliamentarians to help Investe SP in dialoguing with the municipalities, spreading the work of the Agency and facilitating the identification of the potentials of municipalities", he noted.

Area of Municipalities

In order to further promote interaction between local governments and Investe SP, the State Agency launched the Área das Prefeituras hot site, which is hosted within Investe SP's portal. Through this tool, municipalities may register the land to be presented to investors and report issues relating to municipal tax laws, master plan and map the investments announced in 645 cities.

Botucatu Technology Park

The Botucatu Technology Park is mainly focused on promoting sustainable socio-economic development in the Area, by fostering technological innovation in bioprocesses - technological procedure that uses biological systems, components and by-products from living organisms - for production of medicines, medical and hospital supplies, compounds for industrial purposes, herbal medicine (products made with medicinal plants), sustainable agricultural production systems, organic products, bioremediation (use of microorganisms for the recovery of contaminated areas), biological control, environmental services, characterization and use of waste.

The project is being implemented on Gastão Dal Farra Highway. The central building, with 1,800 m², has meeting rooms, training rooms, management, secretarial, administration, purchasing and maintenance facilities, waiting rooms, reception, kitchen, toilets, service area, hall, two amphitheatres and auditorium for 190 people.

The park is expected to open in the first half of 2015. Six companies have signed a letter of intent to settle in the park. Since 2009, the city of Botucatu is part of São Paulo's System of Technological Parks.
