Márcio França is the new Secretary of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation of São Paulo

The vice-governor Márcio França took office on January 1 as Secretary of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation of the State of São Paulo during a ceremony held at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, the seat of the state government.

The Department of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (SDECTI), which is the government agency with which Investe São Paulo is associated, works to promote sustainable economic growth, improve higher education, technical and technological education and stimulate innovation in the state of São Paulo, with public policies focused on the generation of jobs and income and the increased entrepreneurship and competitiveness of the productive sector.

With a bachelor degree in law from Universidade Católica de Santos, Márcio França was a councilman in São Vicente and also mayor of the city for two consecutive terms. He was elected for the first time as Congressman in 2006, and re-elected in 2010. He worked as an advisor at the Financier of Studies and Projects (FINEP), at the Ministry of Science and Technology in the federal area. President of PSB in the state of São Paulo, he took over the State Department of Tourism in 2011, a position he held until 2012.

In the structure of the Department of Development, in addition to Investe São Paulo are Centro Paula Souza, a local authority that manages Etecs and Fatecs, São Paulo Research Foundation (Fapesp), Technological Research Institute (IPT), Institute of Nuclear and Energy Research (Ipen), Board of Trade of the State of São Paulo (Jucesp), Association of Craftwork (Sutaco), in addition to state universities and colleges (USP, Unesp, Unicamp, Univesp, Famema and Famerp).
