Mara Luquet is the invited speaker at Agenda Araraquara 2018

Journalist of ‘O Globo’ and columnist of CBN radio is the invited speaker of the fourth edition of the event held free of charge on May 25, at Hotel Araucária

On May 25, 2018, the city of Araraquara hosted the event called ‘Agenda Araraquara’, a seminar that is already in its fourth edition and that promotes a debate on feasible solutions to the local problems. The event is organized by OA Eventos, with the institutional support from EPTV. It is also produced by the newspaper ‘A Cidade’ and portal ‘A Cidade ON’, with the support from Investe São Paulo and the news portal G1.

After discussing entrepreneurship and creative cities, among other topics, in 2015, 2016 and 2017, this year the subject is economics. And to talk about it, the fourth edition of ‘Agenda Araraquara’ brought one of the main economics journalists of the country to analyze the economic scenario, the importance of the presidential elections in the economy and the prospects for the upcoming years.

Mara Luquet is a journalist and personal finance columnist for CBN radio and TV Globo. She was the editor of the Investments and Career section of the newspaper Valor Econômico, Folha Invest, of Folha de S.Paulo and Veja magazine.

In addition to Mara, the debate panel also featured the participation of the general manager of Investment Projects of the state agency Investe São Paulo, Ana Beatriz Fernandes. Investe SP is the statement government agency responsible for the application of policies to attract new companies to São Paulo. With a degree in Economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), she holds an MBA in Strategic Business Management and Business Economics from the Institute of Economic Research/University of São Paulo (FIPE/USP). Ana Beatriz also worked at IBM and Citigroup.

The economist Elton Eustáquio Casagrande  also participated in the debate. Assistant PhD Professor at the São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho  (Unesp), at the Department of Economics, and at the Postgraduate Program in Business Administration (with focus on Agroindustry) of FCAV/Unesp/Jaboticabal. He works in business projects in the areas of Finance and Budget, Strategic Planning and Performance Measures, and develops fundraising activities based on business projects.

He holds a degree in Economics from the State University of Londrina (1987), a Master’s degree in Business Economics from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (SP) (1993), a PhD in Business Economics from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (2000) and (Interuniversity Exchange Doctorate) – Washington University in St. Louis (1995/1996), and teaching practice at Instituto Politécnico Viana do Castelo em Viana do Castelo, Portugal (2016) in the entrepreneurship area.

 

About the seminars

The set of seminars is promoted by the company OA Eventos, member of the EP Group, parent company of EPTV. The event began five years ago in Ribeirão Preto. Since then, in addition to the city of Ribeirão Preto, the sessions have also been held in the cities of Araraquara, São Carlos and Campinas. This year, in the state of São Paulo, the list of cities was extended to Piracicaba and Franca. Since last year, the event is also held in five cities in the south of Minas Gerais: Poços de Caldas, Passos, Varginha, Itajubá and Pouso Alegre.

In the first editions of the event, the topics were Creative Cities, Collective and Innovative Actions, with the economist, urbanist and advisor to the UN, Ana Carla Fonseca, and the Argentine urbanist and also advisor to the UN, Alejandro Castañé. Last year, the topic was social entrepreneurship, with the journalist, writer and social entrepreneur, Eduardo Lyra, creator of the NGO Gerando Falcões, from São Paulo.
