LiuGong Machinery, leading Chinese manufacturer of high quality heavy-duty construction equipment, announced on March 20 during the opening ceremony of its first plant in Brazil, that it will invest R$ 120 million in the country. The plant is located in Mogi Guaçu – São Paulo, a city located in the countryside, 180 km from São Paulo.

The project relies on the support from Investe São Paulo, the investment promotion agency associated with the Department of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation of the State of São Paulo. “We helped LiuGong choose the ideal location for its plant and provided guidance in relation to tax incentives. But the work is just beginning, because we will assist the company in everything that involves the infrastructure of the plant,” said the president of Investe SP, Juan Quirós.

This was the hundredth project announced by the agency since its creation. The Governor Geraldo Alckmin took the opportunity at the event to congratulate it. “The state of São Paulo, with this kind of work, is helping Brazil at this moment. The implementation pace of investments will continue, because the state is prepared to keep it with excellent infrastructure, technology and innovation,” he said.

LiuGong expects to produce 1500 units per year in the new facility. The investment will be made within three years, reflecting the expectations of evolution of the business in the country. The plant will deliver the best selling equipment in the Brazilian market, including wheel loaders and excavators. This will be its fourth plant outside China, where they are leaders in excavators and wheel loaders. In Brazil, LiuGong has been operating since 2007 and is recognized for the quality of its products, easy maintenance and its wide range of products for construction and mining.

“We believe that Brazil is a country that is facing temporary challenges and difficulties, but that has huge potential for growth, especially in our industry. For this reason, we will keep this partnership with the state of São Paulo, with the city of Mogi Guaçu and the Brazilian market,” said the global president of Liugong Machinery, Yu Chuafen, during the ceremony.

The equipment is distributed throughout Brazil and has an after-sale support system with local presence. One of the great advantages offered is that they use known and recognized parts of world class partners such as Cummins, ZF and others. The city of Mogi Guaçu offers easy access to some of the main suppliers of parts in the region and its strategic location is essential to the business plan.

“LiuGong is reinforcing the long-term relationship with Brazil. We have a history of success in the country with our machines. This investment is a natural consequence of our evolution in the business and the belief that the infrastructure and construction markets have good potential to grow in the coming years,” said Bruno Barsanti, vice president of Liugong Latin America.

The company plans to hire 80% of its employees locally and has a policy of offering opportunities for professional growth. “The company invests heavily in new products and technologies in China, and these advances are used worldwide in our operations in Poland, India, Argentina and now in Brazil. We are committed to transfer our values to the communities chosen to build our facilities, bringing social, economic and knowledge growth,” said Barsanti.

According to the vice governor and secretary of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation, Márcio França, the construction of the plant in Mogi Guaçu is a result of the actions of the state government to stimulate the economy in the entire state. “The capital seeks stability, and São Paulo is the place in Brazil that currently has all the conditions to attract investments. In addition, the plant is located in the administrative region of Campinas, and in addition to the workforce and technology parks available also has a privileged location due to the proximity to the main industrial and commercial centers in the country,” he said.

“The arrival of LiuGong in Mogi Guaçu meets the meta-synthesis of our government, which is to foster economic development to provide good levels of quality of life to the population,” said the Mayor Walter Caveanha. “It is a company with great potential in the national and international market, which will also contribute to the expansion of opportunities to the local workforce,” said Caveanha. “The participation of the state in the company’s process of definition for Mogi Guaçu was decisive,” he concluded.
