The Argentine laboratory Labyes, a reference in veterinary drugs for dogs and cats, announced on March 2 the opening of its new Brazilian headquarters. The new facility includes a training center, stock distribution center, and the whole administrative and sales structure of the company in the country, receiving investments of R$ 2 million.

The project is assisted by Investe São Paulo, an Investment Promotion Agency linked to the Department of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation of the State of São Paulo.

"We are ready to assist Labyes in the expansion of its operations in Brazil, as the State of São Paulo is the logical destination of most investments in veterinary drugs in Brazil, not only because of our logistics infrastructure or the number of skilled professionals available, but also because of the domestic consumer market," explained the president of Investe SP, Juan Quirós.

The announcement was made during a meeting that gathered the unit's employees, the mayor of Valinhos, Clayton Machado, and an Investe SP team. The company's president, Carlos Corrales, was also present.

"The beginning of another enterprise in the city, now in the veterinary industry, proves that Valinhos is a viable investment alternative in times of crisis. We would like to thank Labyes for trusting us and we are ready to welcome new companies, offering our whole administrative structure for the implementation of new ventures," said Mayor Clayton Machado.

Until November 2015, Labyes operated in a smaller office in São Paulo, outsourcing the distribution logistics of the drugs produced in the parent company in Argentina. The new structure in Valinhos, which centralizes and optimizes the distribution of drugs, will promote a more efficient and quicker service to the customers, even enabling an increase in the portfolio of products commercialized in the country.

"We were very well received by the City Government of Valinhos, and the city has a strategic location for us, mainly because of its proximity to Viracopos Airport," explains the executive director of Labyes in Brazil, Adriana Baruch. According to her, the parent company is studying the possibility of, within its expansion plan for the continent, establishing a production unit on the same site.

The land acquired for the new unit has 4,000 square meters, with the administrative building having 400 square meters and the stock warehouse 270 square meters. That is, there is room for a future expansion.
