Agency assisted companies at its booth in the event held on August 22-24

Investe São Paulo participated with a booth at the largest solar energy fair in Latin America, Intersolar South America.  According to Sérgio Costa, director of Investe São Paulo, the event was an opportunity for the Agency’s team to be closer to the main companies in the sector in the country. “Investe SP gives priority to renewable energy projects, both because of the technological development and for the contribution to a more sustainable economy,” he explained.

“The development chain of the solar energy industry still has a lot of opportunities to be developed in the state of São Paulo. And with the investments promoted by the state government, I am sure that São Paulo will be a leader in innovation in this sector,” says the deputy governor and Secretary of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation.

The 2017 edition of Intersolar South America attracted 220 exhibitors from 11 countries. It corresponds to a 20% increase compared to last year’s record number, with the area of the fair growing 35% for the second consecutive year.

According to the organization of the event, this happened because solar energy is on the rise in South America. Many countries stand as new frontiers for unsubsidized solar markets. With high irradiation levels and fast growing demand, the continent is positioned to be one of the most attractive regions for solar energy projects. Intersolar South America is part of this success story and is proud of being the key platform for promoting solar technologies in South America.

“Solar experts from all over the world gathered in São Paulo to discuss all aspects of solar technologies and analyze market opportunities and business models for the industry. Many returning exhibitors booked bigger booths. We also had the pleasure to welcome more than 60 companies exhibiting for the first time at Intersolar South America,” said Dr. Florian Wessendorf, managing director of Solar Promotion International and Daniel Strowitzki, CEO at Freiburg Messe Marketing International, the international organizers of Intersolar South America.

“We enjoyed the event and next year we will return again, but in a lager booth,” said SICES’ CEO Leonardo Curioni, in 2016. And he was not the only one to promise that: in this year’s edition, SICES Brazil tripled the booth area to highlight its position in the market.

Edgard Laureano da Cunha Junior, CEO of the co-organizer Aranda Eventos added:  “We are pleased to welcome more than 12,000 visitors to a new edition of Intersolar South America. For the experts, Intersolar South America is a unique opportunity to share experiences, forge partnerships and shape solar energy developments on the South American continent.”

The high penetration of renewable energies in South America’s future power systems will significantly increase the need for flexible operational measures and push the deployment of innovative energy storage solutions. To highlight energy storage innovations and programs, Intersolar South America promotes a special exhibition, the “ees South America”. At least 40 exhibitors of Intersolar South America indicated that they will be showing electrical energy storage products as part of their portfolio.
