On October 16, Investe São Paulo, with the support from the Metropolitan Agency of Santos and Region (Agem), promoted its first institutional action to provide training to municipalities for attracting investments outside its headquarters. The event was held in the office of Agem, with the participation of all municipalities represented by the entity, the Department of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (SDECTI) and Desenvolve São Paulo.

The purpose of the event was to enable a discussion on how to make the municipality more attractive for potential investors. On the occasion, the director of Investments of Investe São Paulo, Sérgio Costa, introduced the tools that help support entrepreneurs and contribute to the creation of a structure adequate for the investor to choose the municipality.

“The information provided by the municipalities form the base of the lists sent to investors who use our services,” said the director. “Based on a list of demands and prerequisites, the professionals in the project area of the agency make lists of cities that can meet their needs, including taking them to visit properties.”

He also congratulated Agem for the initiative to promote the event. “It’s great to do this work with municipalities such as Santos and Region, who are concerned not only to attracting new investments, but also make entrepreneurs who are already established in these cities stay and reinvest. We have a lot to do from here,” he said.

The director of Desenvolve São Paulo, Nadson Xavier, gave a presentation showing the credit facilities that can assist the municipalities in the acquisition and renovation of infrastructure.

During the opening of the meeting, the Executive Director of Agem, Marcelo Siqueira, spoke about the importance of the partnership with Investe São Paulo: “I am sure that today will be extremely productive. The closer relationship with the team of Investe SP will provide an excellent support for us to attract investments that create jobs and income.”

Paulo Delgado, adviser of SDECTI, who coordinated the work on behalf of the appointed secretary, Nelson Baeta Neves Filho, took the opportunity to praise the Metropolitan Plan of Strategic Development of Santos and Region with the institutional meeting.

“Seeing the effort of Santos and Region to act as a group of cities that work together towards the joint development makes us enthusiastic. I am sure that this plan will be a parameter and a role model to be followed by many regions of the state of São Paulo,” he said.

After the presentations of Investe SP and Desenvolve SP, the second part of the event featured a forum in which each municipality presented the main characteristics of their municipality, such as the main economic activity, business opportunities, districts or industrial hubs, the areas available for production plants, incentive laws, technological centers and other information.

The general manager of Investe São Paulo, Wilson Soares, and the vice president of Condesb, Maria Emilia Botelho, also attended the event.
