Investe São Paulo gathers executives from Japanese bank to introduce the Agency’s activities

Event was attended by seven relationship managers of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking; The meeting is the result of the memorandum of cooperation executed between the Bank and the Agency in January this year

Sérgio Costa introduces Investe São Paulo to the managers of Sumitomo Bank

On February 3, the director of Investe São Paulo, Sérgio Costa, met with the relationship managers of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Brazil (SMBC), at the Bank’s office in São Paulo (SP). The institution is responsible for serving Japanese companies operating in Brazil or that intend to settle in the country.

The meeting is the result of the memorandum of cooperation executed between the Bank and the Agency in January 2015 and aimed at the dissemination of the activities of Investe São Paulo. At the beginning of the event, Costa mentioned that the Agency was at the disposal of the managers aiming at the expansion of the economic relations between Japan and the state of São Paulo. “Tell me what it takes to ensure the evolution of your investment, what are your needs and we will assist you in every way,” he said.

The executive provided a brief overview of the promising activity of Investe São Paulo in the investment attraction field and showed the results of this work through data and facts that portray the success of entrepreneurs who have chosen São Paulo. “Since the inauguration of the Agency, 96 direct investment projects have been announced in the state, which include Japanese companies such as Toyota, Toshiba and Horiba,” he said.

In addition to highlighting the quality and gratuity of the services offered by Investe SP, he explained that the institution provides all the support required to facilitate the settlement process of companies, assisting entrepreneurs also after the implementation of the project.

Costa presented the main factors that make the region favorable to foreign investments, pointing out the large logistics infrastructure and the high degree of incentives to the research and development sector. “Sao Paulo has the third largest consumer market in Latin America, such magnitude surpasses entire countries. Brazil is first, followed by Mexico and, then by the state of São Paulo,” said the executive.

The director also introduced the tool Find a Business Partner, a virtual environment that allows national and international companies expand their business, establishing partnerships and exchanging know-how.
