Investe São Paulo and Ubrafe – Brazilian Association of Trade Fair Organizers signed this Monday, June 2, a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on the promotion of investments and major trade fairs in the state of São Paulo. The agreement was formalized at the headquarters of Ubrafe, in the state capital.

According to the document, the two institutions have committed themselves to share information and contacts that contribute to the arrival of companies to the state, promoting the main Brazilian events for investors. Ubrafe will also help Investe São Paulo to identify potential business opportunities, while Investe SP will collaborate in the dissemination of actions performed by members of the entity.

“São Paulo is the state that hosts the largest number of fairs and events related to business in Brazil. To promote them means to increase expenditure with business tourism, which involves everything from lodging to food, transportation, recreation and other services. Most deals are closed during trade fairs, and we will make everything possible to attract an increasing number of investors to events in São Paulo,” said the president of Investe São Paulo, Luciano Almeida.

For the CEO of Ubrafe, Armando Arruda Pereira de Campos Mello, “[this partnership represents] the integration of entities aimed at the development of activities for the commercial promotion of trade fairs in Brazil, with national and international impact. Partnerships add value to the activity, favoring the global development of media.”

Only in the city of São Paulo, approximately 800 events are held per year, which is equivalent to one at every six minutes. The activity generates spending of R$ 9 billion including investments from exhibitors and promoters at the fairs. With this amount, in addition to the expenditures of tourists in the city and with air transportation, it generates a turnover of approximately US$ 16.3 billion in the economy, according to a survey by Ubrafe titled The Economic and Social Impact of Trade Fairs in the city of São Paulo. It totals approximately 8.8 million visitors in the city every year.
