The relations between Banco Sumitomo Mitsui Brasileiro and Investe São Paulo were intensified throughout 2014

On January 7, Investe São Paulo and Banco Sumitomo Mitsui Brasileiro (SMBC) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding for the cooperation of both institutions in the intensification of the economic relations between São Paulo and Japan.

The document was signed at the office of Investe SP and establishes a partnership between the institutions aiming to provide all the necessary support to future Japanese entrepreneurs interested in investing or expanding existing enterprises in São Paulo.

During the meeting, it was agreed that Investe São Paulo would participate in the seminars organized by SMBC and there was also a discussion regarding the possibility for Investe SP to promote a mission to Japan in 2015. In 2014, the institutions held a series of meetings to prepare for this partnership. The intention now is that representatives of the Japanese bank recommend to their clients the services of Investe SP.

“Consider Investe São Paulo an extension of your arms to reach potential Japanese investors,” said the director of Investe São Paulo, Sérgio Costa, by making the agency available to provide all the necessary support not only for the clients but also for internal employees of the bank.

The executive introduced the free services offered by the agency to investors, highlighting the state’s potential and the positive projection of São Paulo in relation to the rest of the country. On the occasion, the Investment Manager, Luis Arbex, introduced the website Find a Business Partner. The website allows companies of any size and sector to find partners for technology transfer, investors, partners, distributors and commercial representatives for business in São Paulo.

“With the website Find a Business Partner, Japanese companies will be able to find someone who knows how to deal with the transition between the laws of the country. Thus, the partnership will be much more useful,” said Costa.

The president of Banco Sumitomo Mitsui Brasileiro, Takaaki Otani, highlighted the potential of the State São Paulo in relation to the infrastructure for welcoming projects and demonstrated his willingness to create a work plan as soon as possible for the completion of the partnership.
