Elsys partners with Hughes Brasil for satellite broadband

Elsys, an electronics manufacturer from São Paulo, has partnered with satellite operator Hughes Brasil to offer broadband internet for consumers and small and midsize business. Elsys will be in charge of installation and maintenance while Hughes, controlled by US company Echostar and which holds the client portfolio, will handle credit proposals and user management. The Hughes satellite that will provide the service was launched last week and starts operating in July. It covers 80% of the Brazilian population but will be focused on the interior, where 30% of areas still don't have internet access.
