Brazil seeking trade deals with Canada and South Korea

Valor Internacional

Brazil is opening up two new avenues as it seeks to sign trade deals with more than half a dozen markets this year. The most recent additions are Canada and South Korea, with the start of talks recently approved by the Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex), which has the prerogative to negotiate such deals. Also on the list are a bilateral deal between Brazil and Mexico, as well as talks between Mercosur – the trade bloc Brazil is a member of – and the European Union, the European Free Trade Association (Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and Liechtenstein), India, Tunisia, and Lebanon. Foreign Trade Secretary Abrão Árabe Neto acknowledged that it is uncertain whether these deals will be concluded this year.
