ABB, a Swedish-Swiss multinational, leader in the provision of digital solutions for industry and energy, will open, on September 20, another manufacturing plant in the company’s complex in Sorocaba, São Paulo. With a local investment of more than R$20M, the structure is intended for the production and customization of low and medium voltage panels.

“With this new investment, ABB reinforces its commitment to Brazil and strengthens its local and South American operations with the new production line for industrial panels. In addition, the new unit places us in a better position to contribute to investments in infrastructure, especially those geared towards tomorrow’s technologies, such as electric mobility, solar and wind power, so essential for smart cities,” says Rafael Paniagua, president of ABB Brazil.

In addition to this plant, the company plans to expand local content production in the upcoming years. The products and solutions manufactured in Brazil are distributed in the domestic market and throughout the South American region.

“The new unit will be better equipped, in addition to having a higher production capacity. ABB is a reference with its extensive portfolio of products and solutions for the segments of electrification, robotics, automation products and the energy sector. Contributing to the installation process of this plant is a great satisfaction,” says Sérgio Costa, director of Investe São Paulo – the investment promotion agency of the state government and an ABB partner.

ABB supplies high-tech products with quality and global standard, which are in the main infrastructure projects and in segments such as energy, pulp and paper, mining, oil and gas, food and beverages. With a strong regional performance, the Brazilian market accounts for 50% of ABB’s revenues in South America.

ABB Sorocaba

Opened in 2014, the ABB complex in Sorocaba produces motors, generators, drive systems, electro-centers and switchgears and plugs. The other industrial units of the company are located in Guarulhos (SP) and Blumenau (SC), in addition to its headquarters in São Paulo (City America).

Important industrial hub of the state, Sorocaba has excellent market and infrastructure conditions. For the mayor of Sorocaba, José Crespo, the installation reinforces the development trend in the state of São Paulo. “We have been conducting an extensive work to create actions and projects that encourage the arrival of these units in Sorocaba,” he said. The municipal secretary of Economic Development, Labor and Income, Robson Coivo, said that despite the economic crisis, the city continued to grow and attract companies. “We only have reason to be proud of the diversity and quality of our companies. Sorocaba is at the forefront in terms of attracting new investments,” concludes Coivo.
