Registrations are now open for the 2nd SP Conecta, which brings together the most important agents that foster innovation in the state of São Paulo to assist startups at no cost at the headquarters of Investe São Paulo.

The event will be held on August 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m, with over 40 entities available for connection, panels and presentations. The event will be followed by the Brazilian regional edition of the 2018 Startup Worldcup in the afternoon. Registration is free of charge by the site and limited.

This is already the second edition of the event, which in 2016 was attended by 40 exhibitors and more than 600 people – an audience that should be exceeded in 2017. The new version brings a greater focus on business internationalization, with the presence of several Chambers of commerce and foreign diplomatic organizations interested in developing joint actions with Brazilian businesses.

“We have heard a lot about the importance of creating an action that brings together the entrepreneurial community of the state in a simple and direct way, favoring new ideas and leveraging business. It’s a unique opportunity,” says Sérgio Costa, director of Investe SP. The investment and export promotion agency is associated with the Department of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation of the State of São Paulo.

Another novelty for this year is the Startup World Cup, which will open its 2018 edition in Brazil. The global competition evaluates startups from any segment around the world in regional competitions that lead to a final competition in Silicon Valley, where the winner wins a US$1 million dollar prize and mentoring. Organized and financed by Fenox Venture Capital, the Brazilian regional edition of the event will take place at the headquarters of Investe SP, shortly after SP Conecta, at 2:30 p.m.

“We need to make it easier for more startups to be born with the goal of competing in international markets.  In addition, we want the entrepreneurs to get to know more about the programs and the support that the organizations present in the state of São Paulo can offer.  In this sense, the event and SP Conecta Map are available for our state to grow in the international ranking of startups,” says Franklin Ribeiro, Investment Manager at Investe SP.

The vice governor and state secretary of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation, Márcio França, praised the initiative: “Investe São Paulo is once again fulfilling its role of shortening the distance between public and private entities, combining interests and favoring economic development – this time through the revolution promoted by startups.”

 About SP Conecta

SP Conecta emerged from the need to create new connections between entrepreneurs, incubators, accelerators, academics, associations and governments to accelerate the development of startups from São Paulo. In addition, the intention is to bring startups closer to large companies and innovative corporations.

The more than 40 participating players will be available to answer questions, provide guidance or even offer their services to entrepreneurs. Among them are companies that adopt open innovation, accelerators, incubators, funding agencies, research institutes, corporate and professional associations and the government itself. Thus, these institutions will be able to individually showcase their services and programs.

In 2016, the action also culminated in the creation of the SP Conecta Map, a collaborative tool where institutions that foster innovation register their information, thus making it easier for them to be found by those who need them.
